General Enrolment

Eligible students may enrol at Sale & District Specialist School any time during the school year.

Eligibilty for Enrolment

A child may only attend Sale and District Specialist School if they are deemed eligible and receive funding through the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) under the criteria of intellectual disability. Before entering Sale and District Specialist School, students will need to be assessed by a qualified educational psychologist to determine eligibility and then qualify for funding through the Program for Students with Disabilities under the criteria of Intellectual Disability.

We work with families to complete this process and are happy to attend case meetings prior to your child's enrolment in order to facilitate a smooth transition to school . For more information about the Program for Children with Disabiliites go to the Department of Education & Training website.

The decision to enrol at Sale and District Specialist School is ultimately a family choice. Enrolment may be on a full time basis or part time, with enrolment shared between the Specialist School and a mainstream school. Enrolment of less than two days per week is strongly discouraged.

For information specifically about Prep Enrolment go to our Prep Enrolment Page.

Immunisations

A school entry immunisation certificate must be presented at the school office before children start school. This is a legal requirement on enrolment to primary school in Victoria. This process assists health authorities in the event of a vaccine preventable disease occurrence in school. An unvaccinated child may be excluded from school for a period of time.

School entry immunisation certificates can be obtained from:

  • The Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR)
  • Medicare Australia
  • Wellington Shire Council Immunisation Service

Transition

Eligible students may enrol at any time during the school year. Students will participate in a transition program to ensure student needs are identified and placement is appropriate. Please contact the school for further information about transition.

Transport Assistance

Students who reside within the school's Designated Transport Area (DTA) may be eligible for transport assistance.

Go to the Transport for students with a disability page of the DET website for information, application forms and guidelines about eligibility.
